The image presents a concept rendering of the exhibited artwork.

Harold Houdijk is an visual artist based in Rotterdam, NL. He studied and taught audiovisual design at the Willem de Kooning Academy, Rotterdam. Harold performed as a VJ for more than 10 years, and worked with and for internationally renowned DJs like Tiësto and MarcoV, creating tailor-made visuals for their tours and other music events.

What is most important to Harold in his art, is to try to work without a concept, and see where the materials and tools he uses lead him. The output is not fixed, nor is the inspiration or input of the artwork. The starting point can be something as trivial as found footage, objects or other information – its essence revealed by the artist and his tools. This way seemingly random input generates seemingly random, yet very controlled output.

Harold expects an open mind from the viewer of his art. His main aim is to evoke emotion through his work, although he does not wish to dictate the viewer's response. The aim of his constant experimentation is to create I’art pour l’art – in his eyes the purest form of art. Art that exists solely for the viewer's personal experience.
