This work was created during my artist residency in Orta San Giulio, on the shores of Lake Orta. It was a place where I went surfing, explored the mountains and created a series of landscapes in acrylic on paper.
LIVELINESS

Liveliness is an original vibrant Italian acrylic landscape filled with color and movement. Expressive brushstrokes and bold contrasts of red, yellow, blue and green create a dynamic landscape where vegetation, architecture and the surrounding valley gradually blend into one another.

This work was created during my artist residency in Orta San Giulio, on the shores of Lake Orta. During my stay, I surfed, wandered through the mountains and painted a series of landscapes in acrylic on paper.
VIEW AT THE LAKE, JUST BEFORE THE STORM
View at the Lake, Just Before the Storm is an original acrylic landscape on paper, painted during my artist residency in Orta San Giulio, Italy.
Created by the lake as a storm was moving in, the painting reflects the changing atmosphere of the valley. Blues, greens, ochres and flashes of yellow run through the vegetation and distant landscape, while loose marks and layered paint bring movement and tension into the scene.
The work does not try to reproduce the landscape exactly. Instead, it holds the energy of that moment: warmth, shifting light and the feeling of weather gathering around the lake.
Leonoor Ruigrok werkt vanuit een zoektocht naar wat zich onder de oppervlakte afspeelt. Haar werk beweegt tussen werkelijkheid en verbeelding, waar chaos, tederheid, spanning en verandering naast elkaar kunnen bestaan.
In gelaagde schilderijen en mixed media werkt ze intuïtief met kleur, huid, lijn en materiaal. Terugkerend is de spanning tussen licht en donker, kracht en kwetsbaarheid, controle en overgave. Landschappen, figuren, dieren en kleine constructies kunnen verschijnen, maar nooit als letterlijke weergave. Ze ontstaan vanuit wat wordt gezien, gevoeld, onthouden of opnieuw verbeeld.
Vanuit haar atelier in Voorhout ontwikkelt Ruigrok een beeldtaal waarin expressieve energie en verstilling elkaar afwisselen. Naast schilderkunst onderzoekt ze steeds vaker materiaal, object en ruimtelijke vormen.
Openingstijden
Eens per twee weken zet ik mijn atelier open voor wie het werk graag in het echt wil komen bekijken. Je kunt je hiervoor aanmelden via de website of een mail sturen naar info@laceruig.nl. Liever op een ander moment? Ook tussendoor kunnen we een afspraak maken.
