Debbie Young and Katerina Sidorova both work within the realm of the absurdity of extreme humanness.

At first glance their works are polar opposites - a poetic and romantic aesthetic on Sidorova's part, matched with Young's tongue-in-cheek seemingly shallow approach. However, on closer inspection, there is a strong correlation between the two - in the analyzing of a 'hero'. The similarities are of course in the topic tackled, but furthermore in the tone of what the two attempt to say, both utilizing humour and absurdity with a smattering of darkness.

Sidorova takes a more mythological stance, personifying the hero figure as a vulnerable human being. Young uses the superficial celebrity world to emphasize the idolizing of a human being as an unhealthy pass-time. Both of the works refer to the hero as a human being, instead of mythical, questioning the necessity of worship.

This is a one night event where we invite the public to engage into conversations with the artists and ask them all kinds of questions.

"A night out the studio'' is an opportunity for artists to display works that have barely seen the light out of the studio and reflect on the impact that it has when it is shown to the public. These artworks may be finished but they might also be on the process of "becoming" and by exchanging words with the public, the artist has the possibility to explore new ways of looking and understanding their work.

The doors open at 19.30 and around 20.00 the conversation session will start.
