Exhibition ''Reduce & Re-use'' - Haagse Kunstkring , The Hague
Tentoonstelling t/m 20-10-2024 > Den Haag
The exhibition titled "Reduce & Re-use" serves as an artistic appeal for a more sustainable living environment. Eight artists have joined the initiative "The Climate Belongs to Everyone," showcasing art created from natural and repurposed materials at The Haagse Kunstkring. These visual artists share a common perspective, highlighting the threats posed to our living environment by our treatment of the Earth.
The exhibition will commence on September 27, coinciding with the national event "The Climate Belongs to Everyone," taking place in The Hague. It features paintings, photography, and three-dimensional works from eight members of The Haagse Kunstkring , all aligned with the theme "The Climate Belongs to Everyone." Rob Chevallier, the exhibition's initiator, specializes in climate art, linking recognizable second-hand items with contemporary photography focused on conservation and climate change. His piece "Heat Scales" illustrates the rising temperatures in the Netherlands.
Artists Peter van Loon, Joke van der Wiel, Angela Fehlmann, and Gerard van den Broek emphasize the fragility of Dutch nature through their works. The call for increased material reuse is encapsulated in the creations of Sona Sahakian, Tineke Jacobs , and Maarten van Noort.
The exhibition will open on September 27 at 4:00 PM and will run until October 20 until 17:00. Several artists will be present to discuss their works during this time. Additionally, on October 6, Paul de Mol will engage in dialogue with artists and visitors under the theme "The Artist is Seen."
The Day of Sustainability, occurring on October 10, also falls within the exhibition period.
