Will doodles disappear? The act of doodling is a form of daydreaming, a moment when one can detach from the act of creation. The traces left are not controlled, but rather executed by an impertinent hand. Doodles are so physical and yet haven't invaded the digital surface. They still need paper, a pen, and perhaps a long phone call to exist. This exhibition attempts to capture the essence of doodling, how we pass time, daydream, and woolgather, contemplating the spinning drum of the washing machine. The beauty of boredom allows time to be healing.
Pillow Talk presents works that can be described as intimate conversations: from sharing knots of memories, Chris Marker’s Dialector eerie chatbot, to the putrid materiality of time.

Pillow Talk by Paula Garcia Sans, María Nolla Mateos and Aurélia Noudelmann, co-curated by Paladar Space, will open at The Clean Brothers Wasserette (Westerstraat 26, Amsterdam) on Saturday 20 July from 16:00 to 19:00.

Paladar Space is an emerging project space for experimental art founded by artist laury fong gonzalez, currently hovering between the Arts District, Los Angeles and Jordaan, Amsterdam. In Cuba, a ‘paladar’ is a small, family-run business that typically operates in a private home. Paladares are porous, they survive by serving their community and being open to the flux of new ones. Paladar Space wants to create spaces that intentionally run on trust, and is a space for the so-called 'dirty' art, art in process, art in the making.

The Clean Brothers Wasserette is a full and self-service laundromat located in Jordaan, Amsterdam, since 1987. Many thanks to Adriana Pingas and Nes for hosting us.

reclame is a project space initiated by artist Lisa Sudhibhasilp that physically limits itself to a street advertisement board. Artists and designers are invited to react to this peculiar presentation context, the display conditions and the public of walkers-consumers. reclame is interested in practices that challenge the culture of advertisement and the notion of merchandise.
