A skull symbolizes transcience, mortality and the fragility of life. The combination of a skull with flowers represents both life and death. It stands for beauty, love, vitality and the end of life. Flowers wither and decay just like the body. In their decay, they become reminders of life’s brevity and the inevitability of death. The symbolic meaning of flowers on graves is based on the transience of existence and the temporality of life.
