Why do I paint? I use the good old painting medium to be free! I’m in love with life, and I’ve got great expectations of it, therefore I’m often disappointed. What moves me doesn’t come from a passive contemplation of the world, but is an act of rebellion against the mediocrity of our mass consumption society in which I don’t recognize myself. There is more! The meaning of art to me lies in the making process itself. And of course, it’s all about what you can’t put in words, because painting per definition already is an attempt to say things words are not invented for. To write anything anyway: I don’t paint reality like I see it, but the way I think it when I close my eyes. As a matter of fact, I’m working on a refection on life by trying to catch a glimpse of reality under the remains of the dream. Anyway, it took me time to gather the visual syntax together in order to build an independent, contemporary visual language. And I’m only beginning!
