Margarita Nicolaas was born in Amsterdam in 1947.

At a young age her talents were clearly present through her drawings, her dances and music, later in the 60s she studied ballet and pantomime and in the 80s flamenco dance lessons.
For years she worked in the studios of friends and visited places where music and dance performances could be seen in the old Bimhuis and small theaters.
She took classes at the Rijksacademie from 1969 and later became the Visual Arts
Artists scheme admitted.
Many of her works have been acquired by private individuals over the years.

She had many studios during the 70s and 80s, including in Amsterdam and
varying in Greece and France
In Amsterdam she rented an etching studio for a long time, many mixed
techniques used, gouaches, charcoal, pastels, working with oil paint is the last
has become her most loved technique for years,

After a few years, both live and work on the Holthone estate
in an old farm and then close to the Frisian Wadden coast,
where she fell with love for oil painting
as main themes Dance, (Flamenco, Tango) Theater, Circus and the female Nude,
has built up a nice collection.

Her work:

The premise of Margarita is always again
the erotic adventure of the man and the woman.
Her dynamic form language tends towards expressionism.
Her interest used to be in Japanese prints and later the
classical mythology certainly contributed to the erotic aspect in her work.

At a later stage, dance is also added as a theme in her work.
The eroticism between couples (who dance the tango, for example) is portrayed with verve by her.
Precisely because of the main issues and the omission of side issues
one is moved and
reached tense character,
through which it gains vitality and becomes more lifelike,
for example in her works of Amazons on horseback and reclining women in one
landscape.
She incorporated classical mythology in, among other things, “Leda and the Swan” and “Europe and the Bull”.
Her passion for the etching technique enables her to be dynamic
lines to capture the movement in a graceful interplay of lines.
Working on perplexed plates, she discovered the possibility of drawing more freely and directly.

After the last 2 years living and working both on the estate Holthone and afterwards
close to the Frisian Wadden coast and a trip to Indonesia,
Margarita Nicolaas has a love for oil painting
as main themes
the Dance, (Flamenco, Tango) Theater, Circus and the Female Nude,
built up a nice collection.
