'Don't look away' (Strijp S) Mixed media on linen 100 x 70 cm
This painting shows the former engine room of the industrial estate Strijp S. This former factory site of electronics giant Philips, Strijp-S is located in Eindhoven. After the departure of Philips from the city of light in 2004, the complex has been redeveloped into a living, working and meeting place where many young and creative companies have settled. To the right of the painting is a portrait of Bert's mother when she was young.
