This painting was inspired by a visit of Bert to the former Engine Room (Machinekamer) at the Strijp S industrial complex in Eindhoven during the exposition of Art Eindhoven on April 18-19 2015 in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Once, the Machinekamer (Engine Room) kept the factories at Strijp-S going, but now it has been transformed into a restaurant and commercial space, but still the old chains are visible. These inspired Bert in particular to make this painting called 'Chained'
