The painting 'Arts and Sciences' offers a special view of the roof construction of the Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe (the museum of sciences) in Valencia in Spain. I visited that in May 2015 when we were there for a Spanish course. The accompanying terrace of the museum is depicted obliquely at the bottom left. This is to highlight the special architecture of the building in the painting even better.
The building has three floors and was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. It has the appearance of a whale skeleton. Each floor has an exhibition space of approximately 8000 m². It opened on November 13, 2000.
