Oil on wooden panel
40 x 30 cm

This oil painting shows the container ship Rina. At the beginning of October 2011, it had hit a reef off Tauranga on the north coast of New Zealand's North Island. The ship listed heavily and threatened to lose its containers.

The ship was owned by a Greek shipowner and sailed between Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. According to the New Zealand maritime authorities, the ship had 1,368 containers on board, 11 of which contained hazardous substances.
