'Fricke House'
Oil on Canvas
90 x 70 cm

'Frick House' is an interpretation by Bert Hermans of the famous William G. Fricke House designed by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The villa is located in Oak Park, Illinois in the United States. Fricke commissioned the house to Wright in 1901 and it was finished the following year. Wright used elements in the building that would later appear in several of his houses in the so-called Prairie style: horizontal lines, overhanging eaves, shallow hipped roofs and an exterior with a huge amount of stucco. Wright usually emphasized the horizontal in his designs, but the Fricke house is different in that it has a three-storey tower. By using color effects, Bert has created a special atmosphere in the painting.
