The title of this painting 'Attention' refers to the two figures painted in the center of the hall. One is Bert's partner who often meets other people along the way and who, as pictured here, pays attention to the story of a homeless person. Bert saw this scene while on vacation in San Francisco. The hall shown here is the entrance to the metro at the courthouse on Wilhelminaplein in Rotterdam.
