Krystyna Ziach was born in 1953 Between 1973 - 1979 Krystyna Ziach studied sculpture and art history in Poland. In 1973 she moved to Holland and studied graphics and photography. The Memory of Rain is a multiple version of a large-scale photo-sculpture made for an installation entitled A Garden of Illusion 1992-1993, which examined the relationship between sculptural form and photography and that of illusionistic space created by the use of mirrors. here a blue-tinted photograph of houses, inserted into the cut-out lid, is reflected in a mirror in the base. Effectively, the box is created by two frames joined together.

Krystyna Ziach est née en 1953. Entre 1973 et 1979 elle a étudié la sculpture et l’histoire de l’art en Pologne. En 1979 Krystyna Ziach s’est installée aux Pays-Bas pour étudier les arts graphiques et la photographie. La boîte Memory of Rain est la version multiple d’une sculpture à grande échelle créée pour une installation titrée A Garden of Illusion, qui examinait la relation entre la forme sculptural et la photographie et l’espace illusionniste créé par l’utilisation de miroirs. Ici une photo de maisons teintée bleu, insérée dans le couvercle découpé, est reflétée dans un miroir dans la base. En fait la boîte se compose de deux cadres qui sont assemblés.
