Art is the food; the nourishment we cannot live without. The main concept of painting, drawing and making collages for me is experiment and freedom.

What I make and how I work evolved over the years. When in Art school, figurative art was 'not done' at the time. It made me feel I was born a hundred years too late, and that being a female painter was indeed a setback. Now, at this recent moment in time, this proved to be not just a subjective problem, since we entered the era self-awareness for so many through #metoo, #BLM, and suppression again.

My interest started with Surrealism (Max Ernst / Leonora Carrington); art that protested, art that experimented. Art that freed and fed. Psychology and social systems and structures around gender, autonomy and social expectations I research(ed) through literature and trial and error. Thus identity and freedom still are most important to me. My preferred subject is portrait, be it literally or figuratively. A portrait of a living being, or of a situation. Power, willpower, vulnerability, growth.

My sources are narratives and found objects, eclecticism and the use of opposites. This has led to my interest in making visible the Invisible. My work is about how ideas can get stuck, how to change and how energy can be used to create. My work is in fact (to me) a way of creating energy. This also means: re-creation, recycling of materials, works and ideas. My slogan is "Every unchancy work can be the breeding ground for a better".

A chronological development as a human being is reflected in all my work. One work gives opportunity for the next to appear. I have a tendency to illustrate the existential, and the desire to communicate with people through my work.
