CollectionsTHE GOLD AND COPPER COLLECTION - Abstract Expressionism
In this post-truth era, I really felt the need to step back into what I call 'my own alternative reality', and create some bright colored works, as a necessary response to these often stressful times we live in, in which hybrid warfare, singularity, fake news and 'alternative facts' are the issues of the day.
In 'my own alternative reality' everything is light, colorful, bright and radiant.
The beautiful thing about my abstracts to me is, that whereas my Still Lifes are much more about skills, I found out my Abstracts are more about a 'Universal language'. This Universal language I'm referring to is the timeless universal language of color and Abstract Expressionism, and this language goes beyond words and beyond explanation.
So whenever someone experiences the same thing I did, when I painted it (namely joy and cheerfulness), I feel an instant meaningful connection on a whole different level with that person. And that is really truly beautiful.
So I feel very blessed when other people are touched by my art, and that my work now finds its way to other people's hearts and homes.
All Artworks from this collection are in vivid colors and have real 23.75K Gold and/or Copper in them. I use a brush and palet knife, sometimes thick texture to add contrast and an industrial touch to the lightness of the Copper and 23K Gold patches.
The collection ‘The Journey’ represents hope and faith. The series is all about ‘letting go’ and the whole gamut of feelings that go with this aspect of life. Each of the works represent a movement towards accepting what cannot be changed and realizing there will always be new adventures awaiting us.
The entire collection 'Purple Rain' is inspired by phenomenal songs and celebrates the female body and spirit.
It all started one night in 2007, when I watched a concert by Prince and had forgotten how PHENOMENAL his song Purple Rain really was. Completely inspired I started working outside, on my studio porch in Aruba, under a starlit sky, and finished the work by dawn....
On the very first exhibition night, this painting was bought by an art lover who was looking for an original birthday present for her husband's 50th.
Many years later I decided to create an entire collection of 'power women', each and every one of them inspired by these terrific, GREAT songs!
