(English below)

Nelleke Ponsteen explores the language of the body in her drawings. The expression of the vulnerable naked body has its own language. Tough, vulnerable and quiet, her women are depicted on paper with pencil and pastel in small sketches and large drawings.

Nelleke usually makes drawings, both large and small. The drawing mainly concerns the (female) figure and (her) facial fragments in various facets, often with a powerful and at the same time vulnerable appearance.
The posture and facial expressions are central and the enlargement/reduction of body parts gives an extra dimension to the drawing.
In her drawings on paper (and sometimes fabric) she currently mainly uses graphite, pastel and charcoal.
