OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS
NoWeapon.World
World NoWeapon.world is a collective of artists, curators, and art critics that aims to stimulate critical reflection on the role of weapons as a product in contemporary society. Through an open call for participation, the collective encourages producing artworks exploring this theme.
CONCEPT
At a time in history when many conflicts are destroying entire populations, NoWeapon.world is committed to promoting radical change. Our mission is to create a world where weapons are no longer a marketable product, pushing the war industry towards obsolescence.
PROJECT
The exhibition of art posters for a world without weapons is a unique opportunity for artists from all over the world to unite in a collective action for peace and disarmament.
Public spaces, private galleries, and alternative spaces will be used to inspire social and political change through the transformative power of art. The project is part of a global context of concrete action through an artistic operation that triggers a reflection where dialogue, participation and social commitment become tools for change.
OBJECTIVES
To exhibit artistic posters on the walls of various cities in Italy and Europe or displayed in private and public spaces.
To raise public awareness about the devastating effects of the arms industry and its responsibility in perpetuating the culture of war to promote the sale of its products.
To encourage non-violent, diplomatic solutions that are based on cooperation, mutual respect, and peaceful conflict resolution, rather than on force and fear.
To empower citizens to mobilize for a future without weapons.
HOW TO PARTECIPATE
Participation in the call is free.
Each artist is free to interpret the theme in a creative and personal way.
The image of the work selected by the committee will be used to create one of the 50 posters of the exhibition.
Artists are free to use any technique to create a work that is relevant to the theme of the project, obtaining a high-resolution digital file Jpg, Png or Pdf, 300 dpi, 70 cm base x 100 cm height, max. 20 mb.
The costs of printing individual posters will be covered by the organizing committee.
The fundamental selection criteria will be the quality, research, originality and contemporaneity of the work.
REQUIREMENTS
Artists can submit only one image.
The work must be original, produced by the artist who presents it and of his/her physical and intellectual property.
The images must be suitable for all ages.
SELECTION
A committee of professionals in the field of contemporary art will select the 50 works of the exhibition from among all the works received. The names of the selected artists will be published on the website by 30 August 2024, and they will be provided with information on the dates of postering and/or exhibitions scheduled.
DEADLINES AND POSTERS
The deadline for submitting proposals is 30 May 2024.
The posters will be hung in the streets of various cities in Italy and Europe, starting with Venice, in September and October.
The file must be sent to the email address: info@noweapon.world or uploaded to the website www.noweapon.world via the online form. The email will have the subject: NoWeapon.world followed by the name of the artist.
All submitted works that meet the required criteria will be published on the NoWeapon.world website.
JURY
The NoWeapon.world jury is composed of: Francesco Candeloro, Mario Consiglio, Virginia Monteverde, Luca Rezzolla, Marilena Vita.
RIGHTS
Each participant grants free of charge the rights of photographic reproduction or by any other means of the works presented for all activities connected to the promotion and communication of the event. The Organization reserves the right to make any changes to this announcement at any time exclusively for the successful outcome of the event or for reasons of force majeure. The subscription and submission of the application for participation imply the complete and unconditional acceptance of these regulations.
