Space tells a story
In his work as a visual artist and (set)designer Johan Kuhlmann (Arnhem, NL,1952) is inspired by the poetry of the built environment. Houses and huts, silos and industrial installations fascinate him. He photographs them for his photoblog. They evoke thoughts and associations in him, which he makes visible in his paintings, collages and constructions. It is colorful work, executed in various materials and shapes.

His designs for theater and interior are directly in line with this. Using a limited number of resources, he creates spaces that simply change atmosphere and meaning. The space comes to life.
