It is made of the finest marble, this is called statuario. A marble with a coarser grain is called ordinario. I worked on this sculpture over a long period of time, sometimes it stood still for a while and there was reflection about the design and about the stone. To think about how I wanted to develop my idea of ??the feather and the possibilities with this stone. Ultimately it became a horizontal spring, largely polished - but also with a chiseled piece to allow the stone to lie 'nicely' and to give it contrast. The timeless image has been given graceful lines and is detached from the background. Flat and rising parts alternate in the upper plane.
