July 8th The chestnut tree is turning brown again. this is because many chestnuts have suffered from the chestnut leaf miner in recent years. This is a small moth that comes from southeastern Europe. The moth lays its eggs on the leaves of the chestnut, the caterpillars that hatch these eggs eat through the leaf tissue and form tunnels in the leaf, which turns brown and falls off prematurely. Fortunately, the tree doesn't die from this condition. However the tree will weaken, make it susceptible to all kinds of diseases, such as fungi.
