Into the Void The starting point for the series Into the Void is the concept of ‘voidness’ in the literal sense, as well as in the capacity of mental space perception. Thinking of vacuity, one is confronted with nothingness and the absence of the thing, the invisible and the intangible. In this series Krystyna Ziach tries to represent emptyness, in particular the way it presents itself in the spaces of railway stations, deserted and anonymous. Autobiographical memories play a part in this work. The images constructed also as it were reflect a dreamed reality, such as the one represented in the surrealist paintings of the Italian painter Giorgio De Chirico. Images of tangible urban/architectonic shapes transform into seemingly abstract ‘environments´ in which the light brings about a metamorphosis and creates a new perception and as such emphasizes the emptyness. Into the Void Point de départ de la série Into the Void (vide lumineux) est le concept du ‘vide’ aussi bien au sens propre, qu’en tant que perception d’un espace mental. Les réfléxions sur la vacuité nous confrontent au néant et à l’absence de la chose, à l’invisible et l’impondérable. Dans cette série, elle cherche à réprésenter le vide, en particulier tel qu’il se présente dans les espaces des gares désertés et anonymes. Des souvenirs autobiographiques jouent un rôle dans cet œuvre. Les images construites reflètent pour ainsi dire aussi une réalité rêvée, telle que celle représentée dans les tableaux surréalistes du peintre italien Giorgio De Chirico. Des images de formes urbaines/architecturales palpables transforment en ‘paysages’ faussement abstraits et chimériques, dans lesquels la lumière produit une métamorphose et crée une perception nouvelle et comme telle souligne le vide. Into the Void Uitgangspunt voor de serie Into the Void is het begrip ‘leegte’, zowel in letterlijke zin, als in de hoedanigheid van mentale ruimtebeleving. Nadenkend over leegheid, wordt men geconfronteerd met het niet-zijn en de afwezigheid van iets, het onzichtbare en het ongrijpbare. Het verbeelden van de leegte en met name zoals deze zich voordoet in verlaten, anonieme stationsruimten vormt het thema van de serie. Autobiografische herinneringen spelen een rol in het werk. De ontstane beelden geven ook a.h.w. een gedroomde werkelijkheid (dreamed reality) weer, zoals deze b.v. te zien is in de surrealistische schilderijen van de Italiaanse kunstenaar Giorgio De Chirico. Beelden van tastbare urbanistische/architectonische vormen, transformeren in schijnbaar abstracte, illusionistische ‘environments’, waarin het licht een metamorfose teweegbrengt en een nieuwe perceptie creëert en als zodanig de leegte benadrukt. De mens is in deze serie niet zichtbaar maar je voelt nog wel de menselijke aanwezigheid.
