Inspiration for the Petals came from love. All Petals are made in different marbles, alabaster, selenite and springstone including Italian statuario + calacatta gold marble, orange Aurora bluestone marble from Portugal, a bluestone marble from Namibia. But also in a pink alabaster from Spain, an almost black Springstone from Zimbabwe (this is the hardest type of Serpentine stone with a comparable hardness to Italian marble) and a small one in orange Turkish Selenite, an alabaster type. I largely work by hand, which makes them very natural and organic. This gives them a beautiful appearance. In the softer stones, shaping is very easy and I can work in more detail. The harder the stone is, the less detailed the shapes become. I find inspiration in the flowers and plants in my garden and in the beautiful material itself. With these images I would like to show the beauty of the stones. The design and expression are determined by the material and the subject, by bringing this forward they start to speak. I would like to sell the Petals together and are currently not for sale separately. They are inspired by the chamomile petals, forget-me-not petals and rose petals in my garden and one in Italy. They belong together, based on a theme about love. Back in the past, when I was a girl, I sat with other girls from my class in a field of daisies. If you really liked someone, the girls would pull out a petal from the daisies one by one, saying for each petal: he loves me, he loves me not. The last leaf then gave the answer. Because I had no daisies in my garden and because I found inspiration in the flowers in my garden that have a healing effect, they became the subject of these images. Made between 2015 -2024.
