Painter Bert Hermans has a studio in Gouda where he makes his oil paintings. He regularly takes walks in and around Gouda and often takes photos and sketches (of industrial heritage, among other things) that he later elaborates in his studio. On one of his walks he walked over the dike of the Hollandse IJssel and saw this view of the former candle factory of Gouda.
